Northeast Ohio has a surprisingly rich events calendar, from nationally recognized festivals to intimate community gatherings. Here is what is happening right now and what to look forward to across Medina, Summit, Cuyahoga, Wayne, and surrounding counties.
August 2026: Peak Summer.
It is early August and Northeast Ohio is buzzing. Cuyahoga County Fair is underway in Berea, Cleveland's Little Italy transforms for the Feast of the Assumption, Mapleside Farms in Brunswick hosts its Friday night concert series, and free outdoor concerts fill warm evenings from Wooster to the Lake Erie shore. Here is what is happening right now and coming up across the region.

Cuyahoga County Fair
A six-day celebration in Berea with a full midway of carnival rides, livestock exhibitions, demolition derby, live entertainment on multiple stages, and endless fair food options. A Cleveland-area tradition that draws families from across the region.
Little Italy Feast of the Assumption
Cleveland's 127th annual Feast transforms historic Little Italy into a four-day street festival of faith, food, and community. Italian food vendors serve cavatelli dinners, sausage sandwiches, and cannoli. Highlights include daily Masses, a solemn religious procession (Aug 15), live music, games, and a candlelight procession on the final night. Free admission.
Mapleside Farms Concert Series
Friday night concerts at Medina County's most beloved farm venue. The lineup includes Disco Inferno (Aug 14), Out of Eden — an Eagles tribute (Aug 21), and Country Redford (Aug 28). Fresh-pressed cider, apple donuts, and the famous pumpkin village add to the experience.
Stars Hollow Fest
A Gilmore Girls-themed celebration on Medina's beautiful town square. Live music, dancing, literary costumes, local authors, and more than 100 vendors turn uptown Medina into Stars Hollow for the day. Presented by Black Cat Books & Oddities.
Props and Pistons Festival
A free weekend event hosted by the National Museum of the Great Lakes and Ohio History Connection. Historic aircraft, classic automobiles, living history demonstrations, and family activities at the former Akron airship hangar site.
Levitt AMP Wooster Music Series
Free outdoor concerts on the lawn at the Wayne Center for the Arts in downtown Wooster. The series features national touring artists, food trucks, and family-friendly activities every Wednesday evening. A highlight of Wayne County's summer, with the final show of the season on August 19.

The second half of August brings a new wave of events across Northeast Ohio. Music festivals, food festivals, county fairs, car shows, and community celebrations fill the calendar from Cleveland to Wooster to Medina. Here is what to plan for in the weeks ahead.
Rock the Block Music Festival
Two days of live music, food trucks, and community celebration at South Euclid's food truck park. Local and regional bands perform across multiple genres, with craft vendors and family activities throughout the weekend.
Akron Pride Festival
Akron's annual celebration of LGBTQ+ community and inclusion fills downtown with a parade, live performances, vendor marketplace, and family-friendly activities. One of the region's most vibrant community events.
Classic Car Show at Lehman's
A beloved Wayne County tradition at Lehman's hardware in Kidron. Classic cars, tractors, and specialty vehicles on display with the charming backdrop of this historic Amish Country destination.
Lorain County Fair
An eight-day celebration in Wellington known for harness racing, truck pulls, 4-H shows, and nightly grandstand entertainment. The last county fair of the season in Northeast Ohio, and the final chance to enjoy fair food, midway rides, and agricultural exhibits before fall.
Butterfly Gala
The 23rd annual Butterfly Gala benefiting Stewart's Caring Place, hosted at a private estate in Hinckley. An elegant evening supporting cancer support services for Medina County families.
Cleveland Garlic Festival
The 17th annual celebration of all things garlic. Regional chefs compete in the Garlic Grill-Off, restaurants serve garlic-forward dishes, and you will find garlic ice cream, popcorn, craft beer, and live music. Admission is about $10 at the gate.
Labor Day & Early September.
As August winds down, Northeast Ohio makes a graceful transition from summer festivals to the harvest season. Labor Day weekend brings firework displays, barbecues, and the last big outdoor celebrations. Then September ushers in apple picking, Oktoberfest, county fairs, and the spectacular fall color the region is known for. Here is a preview of what is coming.
Barberton Labor Day BBQ & Music Festival
A lively Labor Day weekend tradition in Summit County with barbecue vendors, live music across multiple stages, a fishing derby, kids programs, and fireworks to close out the summer season.
Made in Ohio Art & Craft Festival
Hale Farm showcases Ohio artisans, potters, glass artists, and craft food makers in a beautiful historic setting. Walk through the living-history village and shop for unique, handcrafted pieces. $12 adults, $6 children.
Perch, Peach, Pierogi & Polka Festival
A Lake Erie tradition blending fresh perch, Ohio peaches, pierogies, and polka music into one Labor Day weekend celebration. A scenic day trip from the Cleveland and Akron areas, just under an hour from Medina.
Wayne County Fair
One of Ohio's largest county fairs draws crowds from across Northeast Ohio for livestock shows, 4-H auctions, live music, line dancing, horse contests, and the famous Smash It Demolition Derby. A signature Wayne County tradition that kicks off fall on the right foot.
Free Summer Concerts.
One of the best-kept secrets about living in Northeast Ohio is how many free outdoor concerts happen throughout the summer. From lakefront stages to Metroparks pavilions and downtown parks, there is live music nearly every night of the week and you don't need a ticket.
Metroparks Summer Waterfront Concert Series
Free weekly concerts on the Lake Erie waterfront with live music starting at 5 PM, plus a beer garden and happy hour. Four concerts at each location.
Merwin's Wharf Concerts
Live music on the Cuyahoga River at the Cleveland Metroparks restaurant, with blues, rock, and more. Free to attend.
Levitt AMP Wooster Music Series
Free outdoor concerts on the lawn at the Wayne Center for the Arts in downtown Wooster, featuring national touring artists, local food trucks, and family-friendly activities. One of Wayne County's best summer traditions.
Emerald Necklace Marina Concerts
Free Friday evening concerts at marina locations throughout the Cleveland Metroparks system.
Akron Summer Concert Series

Wooster First Fridays & Art Walk

Buzzard Day

Medina Farmers Market Opens

Cuyahoga Valley National Park Spring Programs

Thursday Night Live

Asian Lantern Festival

Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad

Medina County Fair
One of the largest county fairs in Ohio, with livestock shows, carnival rides, demolition derbies, and classic fair food. Early August.
Metroparks Summer Waterfront Concerts
Free Thursday evening concerts on the Lake Erie waterfront with a beer garden and live music all summer.
Fall
Medina Fall Festival
The historic town square fills with craft vendors, live music, food trucks, and family activities for a day of autumn celebration. Late September 2026.
Wayne County Fair
One of Ohio's largest county fairs with livestock shows and auctions, 4-H exhibits, live music, line dancing, horse contests, food vendors, rides, and the Smash It Demolition Derby. Running September 13-17, 2026.
Cuyahoga Falls Oktoberfest
German-themed celebration on the Falls River Square with craft beer, authentic cuisine, polka music, and family-friendly activities. September 18–20, 2026.
Mapleside Farms Pumpkin Village
Pick-your-own apples, fresh-pressed cider, the Apple Cider Donut Eating Championship, and the Pumpkin Village with hayrides and corn maze. Weekends in September and October.
Yankee Peddler Festival
A journey back to pioneer America with over 100 costumed craftspeople, colonial food, and 18th-century trade demonstrations at Clay's Park. September weekends.
Wooster Fest & Downtown Harvest Celebration
Downtown Wooster's autumn celebration with local musicians, artisan vendors, seasonal food and drink, and family activities on the Public Square.
Cuyahoga Valley Fall Foliage Tours
Scenic train rides and guided hikes through the national park during peak autumn color season. Mid-to-late October at peak.
Winter
Medina Ice Festival
Ohio's premier ice sculpture festival draws tens of thousands of visitors to the historic town square for three days of ice carving competitions, live music, and winter activities.
Roxy Christmas
Wadsworth's beloved holiday celebration features a light display, Santa visits, carriage rides, and community festivities.
Crocker Park Holiday Events
Tree lighting ceremonies, ice skating, visits with Santa, and holiday shopping events at Crocker Park.
Year-Round Activities
Metroparks & Outdoor Recreation: The Cleveland Metroparks system, 23,000+ acres known as the "Emerald Necklace," provides hiking, biking, fishing, golf, tobogganing, and nature education year-round. Cuyahoga Valley National Park offers 33,000 acres of trails, scenic train rides, and waterfall hikes.
Arts & Culture: The Cleveland Museum of Art (free admission), Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Music Center, Playhouse Square (the largest performing arts center outside New York), and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame anchor a vibrant cultural scene. Smaller communities like Wooster and Medina also have active arts communities.
Sports: Cleveland is home to the Browns (NFL), Cavaliers (NBA), and Guardians (MLB), with year-round professional sports action. Minor league teams and college athletics (University of Akron, Cleveland State) add more options.
Food & Drink: Northeast Ohio's food scene has gained national recognition, from Cleveland's diverse ethnic neighborhoods to Medina's farm-to-table dining, Westlake's Crocker Park restaurants, and Wooster's award-winning downtown restaurants and craft breweries. The region is also home to a growing number of wineries and craft distilleries, particularly in the Grand River Valley and Wayne County.
